I have just released an update to the hugely popular document Free Spam Filtering for MacOS X. SpamBouncer has been updated to version 1.5 so the updated documentation has the new installation procedures, plus many improvements and new procedures. The new version of SpamBouncer includes the latest anti-spam technology. So get it.
Thank you very much for your excellent tutorial!
Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work for me. Fetchmail went great, but the filters were ignored.
The reason was that I didn’t read all of the Spambouncer page at the point where you said to do so (D’oh!).
The one thing I needed (from the above URL) was to create a .forward file with the following line:
“|IFS=’ ‘ && exec /usr/local/bin/procmail || exit 75 #rob”
where ‘rob’ is my username, and then chmod the file 644.
Dunno if that’s universally necessary or just a quirk of my particular system, but thought maybe you’d like to add it as step 5 1/2.
Thanks again for the invaluable info!!
